Resin 3D printing (SLA)
When detail and a smooth surface matter: miniatures, small precise parts, looks-like prototypes, clear and rubber-like parts, and molds.

How it works
Resin printers cure liquid resin with light, one very thin layer at a time. Layers are almost invisible, edges are sharp and small features come out crisp. Resin parts are always solid, so there’s no strength setting to choose.
Resins
- Standard Resin, in Grey (paintable: miniatures, figures, fit checks) or Black (sands and coats to look like molded plastic).
- Engineering: Tough (polycarbonate-like, for clips and snap-fits), Wear-Resistant (joints and sliding parts), High-Temp (to 110 °C), Clear, Tooling (injection-mold inserts, to 270 °C) and Elastic (soft and rubber-like).
Plastic or resin?
- Choose resin for fine detail, small parts, sculpted shapes without a flat base, a smooth surface, or see-through parts.
- Choose plastic (FDM) for larger parts, parts under real load, outdoor use, heat above about 60 °C (except High-Temp and Tooling resin), or the lowest price.

Sizes
- Up to 230 × 144 × 350 mm (9.1 × 5.7 × 13.8 in) in one piece. Bigger parts can be printed in pieces (seams show, not glued).
- Walls at least 0.8 mm thick print reliably. See the design guidelines.
Finishing
Resin parts can be sanded, and coated with a gloss or matte finish; clear resin can be made crystal clear or frosted. About finishing.
