Ordering

How do I order?
Upload your 3D file on the price page, choose a material, color and quantity, and add it to your cart. No account is needed. No file? Make a part from a template or a description.
Is the price on the screen the real price?
Yes. It's calculated from your actual part: its size, how much material it uses, how long it takes to print and any supports. It's the price you pay, plus shipping and sales tax where required.
Which material should I choose?
After uploading, press Help me choose and tell us what the part does; we suggest a material and strength. Or compare the materials yourself.
Do you give discounts for larger quantities?
Yes, automatically: the price per part drops as the quantity goes up (from 5 parts), and the one-time setup is shared across all of them. Ordering more never raises the price per part.
Can I order from ChatGPT or Claude?
Yes. Add ply to your chat to price parts from a description, a file or a model link, and order them on ply.

Files and prices

Which files can I upload?
STL, STEP, OBJ and 3MF projects from Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer, up to 500 MB. Several files or a .zip (a whole download from a model site) open together as one project. See preparing your file.
Do I need to know anything about 3D printing?
No. Upload the file, tell us what the part is for and press Help me choose, and we suggest the material and strength. An engineer checks the order before printing, and asks you if anything should change.
I don't have a 3D file. Can you still make my part?
For simple parts, yes: the Parts Builder makes plates, brackets, spacers, washers and boxes from your sizes, or from a description. For anything else, you can find ready-made models on sites like Printables (see where to find models), or have a designer draw it.
Can I print a model I found online?
Yes, if its license allows having it printed by a service (for example CC0, CC BY, CC BY-SA, or a commercial-use license). Personal-use-only models can’t be printed for you. More about model licenses.
What makes a part cost more?
Mostly its size and how much material it uses, how long it takes to print, how much support it needs, the material, the strength setting, finishing, and color changes in multi-color parts. Each order line also has a small setup cost, shared across the quantity. Our design guidelines list ways to lower the price.
Can I change the size of my part?
Yes: use Scale on the price page. A part that isn't at 100% is clearly marked on your order so there are no surprises. If your file is in inches, switch the units under Advanced options.
Can I choose my own walls, fill and layer height?
Yes, under Advanced options on the price page (plastic only). Settings saved in a 3MF project from your slicer are used automatically.
Is sales tax added?
Sales tax is added where we're required to collect it, and shown before you pay.

Materials, colors and quality

Will the color match my screen?
Screen colors are a guide: the real plastic can look slightly different. In a multi-color 3MF project, each color is matched to the closest color we stock, and the price page tells you if one isn't close.
Will I see layer lines?
On plastic (FDM) parts, fine layer lines are visible up close, especially on curves and slopes, and supports leave rougher marks where they touched. Resin parts are much smoother, and can be sanded and coated. See finishing.
How strong are printed parts?
Strong enough for real working parts: brackets, mounts, gears, jigs and replacement parts. Strength depends on the material, the strength setting and the print direction (plastic parts are strongest along their layers). See print direction and strength.
What if a material or color is out of stock?
The price page shows when it's back, and your arrival date includes the wait. If a restock is delayed after you order, we email you; you can wait or cancel for a full refund.
Can parts go outdoors, in a car, or in water?
Yes, in the right material: ASA for sun, ABS or PC for heat, PETG for water (Heavy for underwater). Avoid PLA and most resins in hot cars. See choose by what your part needs.

Review and payment

What does the engineer review check?
Before anything is printed, an engineer checks that your part can be printed well as ordered: material, settings and printability. If a change is needed, or would make the part better, we email you the details and the new price and date. Nothing changes without your OK. The review doesn't check whether your design will work for its purpose.
When is my card charged?
At checkout your card is only authorized (held), not charged. We charge it after the engineer review. If you approve a change that costs less, we charge less; if it costs more, we charge the difference. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your full card number.
What if I don't answer a change request?
We wait 4 days. Then a required change cancels the order (nothing is charged), and a suggested change prints your order as you placed it.
Can I cancel?
Yes, before printing starts, for a full refund (or a released hold if we haven’t charged yet). See refunds & returns.

Shipping and delivery

How fast will I get it?
The price page shows when your part arrives ("Arrives as soon as …") for the shipping speed you choose: Standard, 2-Day or Overnight. It's our best estimate; we email you if it changes.
Where do you ship, and what does it cost?
Within the United States. Your cart shows the shipping price for each speed, and whether your order qualifies for free shipping.
Where are parts made?
Everything is printed in our own production facility in the USA, under one roof. Our materials are imported, so we say "Printed in the USA".
How do I track my order?
Your confirmation email has a link to your order's status page, with tracking once it ships. With an account, all your orders are under My account.
What if something's wrong with my parts?
Tell us within 14 days of delivery, with a photo, and we’ll reprint or refund. Details in refunds & returns.

Reorders and accounts

How do I reorder a part?
Sign in and open My account → My parts. Every part you've ordered is there with today's price; reorder it in a click.
Do I need an account?
No. You can order as a guest. An account (just your email, no password) keeps your orders and parts together, and companies can share them across a team.
Who owns my files?
You do. We use them only to quote, review, print, ship and support your orders, and to let you reorder. See our privacy policy.

What we print

Is there anything you won't print?
We don’t print weapons or weapon components of any kind (including firearm parts and accessories), anything designed to injure people, anything illegal or needing an export license, or designs that infringe someone else’s rights. See section 4 of our terms.
What's the biggest part you can print?
325 × 320 × 325 mm in plastic and 230 × 144 × 350 mm in resin, in one piece. Bigger parts can be split into pieces. See the design guidelines.
Do you do rush orders or custom quotes?
No rush service for now: the dates shown are already our fastest. For something the price page can't handle, email orders@plyparts.com.
